3/24/2011 - Jaffa

We walked back to our bus and drove to Jaffa, the oldest city in Israel.  Along with way I saw a sign for a shop that said "Loren" in Hebrew.

When we arrived in Jaffa, Nir (our guide) showed us many historical locations, including the Andromeda stone where legend says a man placed his beautiful daughter, Andromeda, on the rock and show was swallowed by the sea.  The legend continues that because of this we have six months of dry weather and six months of wet weather each year.

We were given some free time in Jaffa before lunch and noticed the architecture, including beautiful doors.

We went to a restaurant for lunch called Abulafiyah where we had falafel, schwarma and chicken and rice - it was good, but way too much food.  After lunch we crossed the street to the Abulafiyah Bakery and bought a sweet - a chocolate croissant - that was delicious!

As we walked to the bus we saw a bride getting her picture taken in the rain.  Weddings often take place on Thursdays in Israel and traditionally the bridal car is wrapped like a gift.
