3/20/2011 - The First of Many Schwarma

After buying our painting, we determined that we were hungry and stopped at a restaurant on the main street (Jerusalem Street) for some schwarma.  It was delicious and served with at least a dozen salads - cole slaw, roasted eggplant, hummus, tomatoes, cucumbers and pickles.  Also they had pickled beet - so pickled that you couldn't taste the beet.  We could have ordered two meals and had plenty to eat.  Many children were on the street begging for Purim Gelt.  After I gave four of them each a U.S. dollar coin, many others came to see us.  This is an interesting place - oddly, although very cute, none of the children who received the money said thank you.

After lunch we went to the Internet Cafe to check emails - none that couldn't wait, but I wanted also to email the kids and Jill where we were and that we were safe and having fun.

Tomorrow we will leave Tsfat with a sense of sadness as it has been a great experience.  We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.

We went for another walk through Tsfat before settling in for the night, ending the day with ice cream (glida), before returning to the Inn.
